I thought i had read somewhere that the headlight washers only come on if you hold the windshield washer lever for a few seconds. Got a leak somewhere. I used my windshield washers for the first time in the last week after the snow and although i only briefly pushed the washer switch it appears the headlight washers activated because i saw several pulses of spray. After a fair bit of research i ve found out that the telescopic washer system that sits underneath the headlamp can easily stop performing its function.

You could clamp or plug the leaking nozzle and see if it leak out of the other one. As mentioned earlier one of my leaks occured with the headlight washer pump sitting at the front of the washer fluid container the other with my driver side headlight washer nozzle. This is a real easy project to do on the bmw e46 swapping out the headlight washer pump is really easy however unless you can force feed power to the pump it s would be difficult to troubleshoot. If they do not come out when you wash your windshield you can this is what i did to find the problem switch the plugs on the pumps and wash your windshield. Or if the nozzle could be swapped left right you could see if it follows the swap.
